Is LEAP Christian Academy a school or institution?

The LEAP Christian Academy is not a school, but a specialised Christian performance enhancement ministry. We are however working on the establishment of a Leadership institute.

There are many Christian training programmes around. What is the difference about the LEAP Christian Academy?

LEAP is largely focused on leadership and entrepreneurship development through coaching and mentoring, which is simply an added value to training. A lot of people are trained, but inhibited by factors that they may or may not have control over. LEAP coaching and mentoring programmes in particular helps Christians to overcome those limiting factors, in the process of unleashing their potentials.

Please explain how coaching can make a difference in the Church

Coaching is a partnership that assists the setting and attainment of specific goals. In the process, the coach acts as a trusted, non-judgmental partner. This type of collaborative relationship helps to eliminate negative beliefs, build rapport and boost confidence. What is most needed in every congregation is that believers freely and confidently associate with brethren that will help them to achieve their life goals or some specific outcomes. Coaching promotes such engagements, especially with regard to inspiring trust and respect.

What particular problems would LEAP offer solutions to?

The LEAP Christian Academy has given itself the following tasks:

•  Help pastors in particular to be more focused and energised by being there when they need inspirational and transformational support to effectively carry out their assignments.

•  Encourage and assist Christians in leadership position – within or outside the Church to lead with vision, and coach their team to excel, irrespective of the internal and external factors.

•  Actively introduce sustainable business development concepts through coaching and mentoring, to improve wealth creation processes in the Church of Christ.

How can I enroll for your coaching training courses, and what are the requirements?

The LEAP Christian Academy and its major coach training partners train coaches continuously. Please contact us ( info@leaptrain.com ) and we shall work out a suitable and realistic programme.

There are no specific formal requirements for you to become a good coach. A background in the areas of social sciences and behavioral studies may be useful, but is not essential. However, some experience in the area of coaching that you want to major in is most desirable.

An executive coach for instance should have had some previous experience in top management operations. The most essential requirements for coaching are: communication skills, questioning skills, empathy, love for people, objectiveness, and reliability, among others.

Why do you think that Christians need to be trained in business, differently from others?

At LEAP, we believe that a Christian in business is fulfilling a calling of God to manage His valued resources efficiently and effectively, so that there is profit. However, a lot of teaching, training and coaching goes into preparing people for sustainable and repeatable business success, whether you're a Christian or not.

The challenge facing us believers in the business arena is how to continuously build our capacity to operate at the highest possible level, without compromising our faith, belief systems and values.

A Christian in business must be therefore be trained to operate his or her business with superior knowledge and by revelation, as inspired by the Holy Spirit.

The Christians that are willing to pay the price to get knowledge will always be on top of the business ladder and make impact in the marketplace.

How do you fund your projects?

The LEAP Christian Academy is a non – profit organisation. It is largely funded by the co-coordinators and financial partners. Also, a fully commercialised sister company called LEAP Media & Communications (Pty) Ltd provides additional financial and logistics support.

Is LEAP Christian Academy affiliated with any church or Christian group?

LEAP is not affiliated to any Church or Christian group, but establishes value adding partnerships with different groups and ministries.

How do I become a partner with LEAP?

LEAP welcomes everyone that shares the vision and philosophy. To become a partner, simply fill the partnership form. Welcome on board.

As a pastor, I battle a lot with people's commitment to, and consistency in service of God. Have you helped other pastors in this area before?

Yes. People are usually more committed to what would benefit them the most. Therefore, to ensure the commitment of your members, try to find out what they really desire by being members of the Church. In other words, what would be the issues that move them to action and fuel their passion - their “hot buttons”?

Only each member can truly tell you this, and then it is your responsibility to blend their interests into your plans, without losing your own vision, focus and agenda for the Church as a leader. The important thing is for them to be true stakeholders and joint workers in the service of God.

Be aware though that some people may not really know what they want. They may be in a phase that inhibits their ability to truly commit to God's work. You then have to be their coach and uncover such inhibitions, and thereafter refocus their energies appropriately.

How can you help young entrepreneurs overcome the initial business set up problems? Do you assist people with money?

We offer special workshops on business foundations and entrepreneurship development. This has blessed a lot of budding entrepreneurs and has prevented many of them from making serious mistakes.

Apart from this, LEAP provides business coaching and mentoring services, which give small business owners and managers a good advantage in the competitive market. We sometimes assist to raise finance for our clients in certain circumstances, but we are not really in the business of funding businesses.

Do you charge for your services? If you do, how much are your fees?
